Neighborhood Ambassador Program

What’s required?

  • You do not need to be an expert in wildfire, law enforcement, or firefighting. You just need to be passionate about protecting your neighborhood from wildfire.

  • You will be required to take volunteer orientation before getting started along with signing a Liability Waiver, reporting volunteer hours, and completing a Volunteer Commitment Form.

Our Wildfire Adapted Partnership staff, and county coordinators provide support, technical assistance, materials, referrals to experts, and various networking opportunities. Ambassadors report to their local county coordinator whose position is overseen by our Board of Directors. Neighborhood Ambassadors are representatives of WAP, and will maintain a positive, friendly, non-confrontational attitude with the neighbors and groups they contact.

If you are interested in becoming an Ambassador, please fill out the form below and contact your County Coordinator.

What does it mean to be a Neighborhood Ambassador?

Joining the Wildfire Adapted Partnership Neighborhood Ambassador Program is a great first step in mobilizing of your community to engage in wildfire safety and wildfire preparedness activities.  Our Ambassadors are the backbone of our organization. We currently support 157 ambassadors across 3 counties. It would be impossible to do our work with them. When you become an Ambassador, you and your neighbors will be connected with resources covering trusted wildfire education, partners, assistance with mitigation projects, and more. As a Neighborhood Ambassador, you will serve as a point of contact for local firefighting entities, and more.

As a Neighborhood Ambassador, you will:

  • Have a willingness to do neighborhood outreach in fun and creative ways, enthusiasm, and an ability to work with others

  • Have potential access (funding limited) to community funding to do larger community wildfire mitigation projects in your neighborhood.

  • Have the support of County Coordinators to update or begin a Community Wildfire Protection Plan for your neighborhood.

  • Have the opportunity to attend workshops, trainings, and bi-monthly meetings to connect with other ambassadors who care about fire mitigation.

  • Report volunteer hours and ask questions directly to your County Coordinator.
